1. Agreement to Terms

By creating an identity or using PersonalAuth, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. Nature of the Service

PersonalAuth provides cryptographic identity tooling that allows users to create, manage, and share verifiable credentials linked to online accounts.

The service provides a supplementary trust signal only. Holding a PersonalAuth credential does not constitute proof of identity, legal identification, or certification of any kind. PersonalAuth makes no representation that the person presenting a credential is the actual person behind it.

Users and verifiers rely on credentials at their own discretion and risk. Please also review our Privacy Policy.

3. User Responsibilities

You are solely responsible for safeguarding your private keys, recovery phrases, and device credentials; maintaining the security of devices used to access your identity; setting up guardian recovery if you want protection against key loss; the accuracy of linked information; and any actions taken using your credentials, whether authorized by you or not.

PersonalAuth does not store your private key in a recoverable format. If you lose access to your key and have not configured recovery, your identity is permanently inaccessible. We cannot restore, reset, or regenerate lost keys under any circumstances.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to misuse the service, attempt unauthorized access, interfere with system integrity, submit fraudulent information, impersonate others, use the platform for unlawful activity, or reverse-engineer the cryptographic systems.

5. Fees and Billing

Paid plans are billed as shown at purchase. Payments are non-refundable unless required by law. You authorize recurring billing until cancellation. We may update pricing with reasonable notice. Free-tier features may change.

6. Intellectual Property

PersonalAuth software, branding, and content are proprietary. You receive a limited, non-exclusive, revocable license to use the service under these terms. Your data remains yours.

7. Suspension and Termination

We may suspend or terminate access for security reasons, legal compliance, abuse, non-payment, or material violations. You may stop using the service at any time. Upon termination, your local keys remain yours but platform features become unavailable.

8. Disclaimers and Assumption of Risk

The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, security, accuracy, or that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from vulnerabilities.

No security system is impenetrable. While we implement reasonable security measures, we do not and cannot guarantee that the service, its servers, its cryptographic implementations, or its communications are free from vulnerabilities, malware, exploits, or unauthorized access. You acknowledge that cryptographic systems, software, and internet infrastructure carry inherent risks.

By using the service, you expressly acknowledge and agree that you use the service entirely at your own risk. You assume full responsibility for any and all consequences arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to the loss, compromise, or unauthorized use of your credentials, keys, or data.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, PersonalAuth and its officers, directors, employees, agents, licensors, and service providers shall not be liable for any damages whatsoever, whether direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary, arising out of or in connection with your use of or inability to use the service.

  • Loss of profits, data, goodwill, reputation, or business opportunities.
  • Security breaches, hacks, exploits, vulnerabilities, or unauthorized access.
  • Compromise, theft, interception, or misuse of credentials, cryptographic keys, or transmitted data.
  • Any third party reliance on a credential as proof of identity.
  • Inability to recover a lost, stolen, or compromised key or identity.
  • Service interruptions, downtime, errors, or data loss.
  • Malware, viruses, or other harmful components received through the service.
  • Unauthorized access to or alteration of your transmissions or data.

This limitation applies regardless of the theory of liability (contract, tort, strict liability, or otherwise), even if PersonalAuth has been advised of the possibility of such damages, and even if any limited remedy is found to have failed its essential purpose.

Your sole and exclusive remedy for dissatisfaction with the service is to stop using the service.

In no event shall our total aggregate liability for all claims arising out of or relating to the service exceed zero dollars ($0.00).

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless PersonalAuth from claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the service, violation of these terms, or infringement of any third party's rights.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms. Material changes will be posted here with a revised date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
